Kids will learn the fundamentals of jazz dance in this<br />
class. The roots of jazz dance date back to the Harlem<br />
Renaissance of the 1920s. Students will explore the<br />
beginnings of this dance form and cover musical<br />
beats, rhythms, timing, call and response of music<br />
and movements, syncopation of music and movement.<br />
The class will encompass a warm-up jazz segment,<br />
mirror and circle time to learn to hear and create<br />
rhythms, an across the floor segment, choreographing<br />
small movement phrases and dances, and a<br />
cool-down period to reflect and relax the body. Joan<br />
Kashauer is a dance instructor with years of experience<br />
teaching kids creative movement and dance.<br />

During this five-day camp, children experience adventure<br />
games and activities that incorporate team-building,<br />
leadership and decision-making skills. Students<br />
have the opportunity to do low events on the<br />
Challenge Course. Skilled instructors with years of<br />
teaching experience will provide kids with opportunities<br />
to learn while having fun. There is one teacher for<br />
every eight students.<br />

During this five-day camp, you will climb and hike in<br />
the wilderness, learn orienteering and do high-ropes<br />
activities on a challenge course, including zipping on<br />
a zip line. Skilled instructors with years of experience<br />
teaching and instructing will provide you with opportunities<br />
to have fun while learning the basics of these<br />
exciting sports. SFCC supplies instruction, transportation<br />
and gear for the camp. Safety is emphasized with<br />
one instructor for every six students.<br />

Have fun while learning all about Adobe Photoshop<br />
on the computer. Young artists learn to create their<br />
own unique images using Photoshop, a software program<br />
for creating and manipulating photographic<br />
images. You will scan, manipulate and print out your<br />
final artworks. This class is for beginners. Jesz Jaydnn<br />
is working on her degree in Media Arts at SFCC and<br />
has been working with digital artworks for years. She<br />
looks forward to working with young artists in <strong>Santa</strong><br />
<strong>Fe</strong>. There is no class on April 7.<br />

Learn how to take and make pictures that express<br />
who you are and how you look at life. Take your 35-<br />
mm camera on two location shoots, develop blackand-white<br />
film and make prints from your negatives<br />
in the darkroom. The focus is on composition, print<br />
quality, good darkroom techniques and having fun<br />
— one of the most important elements in capturing<br />
memorable moments. All levels of students are welcome.<br />
Instructor Diane DiRoberto will be happy to<br />

Languages<br />
<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Fe</strong> is a community where many people are<br />
bilingual (Spanish/English) or Spanish-speaking<br />
only. SFCC Continuing Education offers a firstrate<br />
Spanish program that will take you step-bystep<br />
to fluency through an emphasis on the study<br />
of essential grammar. We also offer other languages<br />
for anyone who cares to broaden their proficiency<br />
in French, Gaelic or Italian.<br />
SPANISH PROGRAM<br />
The SFCC Continuing Education Spanish program<br />
is a dynamic series of classes that will give you a solid<br />
foundation with five-week courses that emphasize the<br />
most important components of the language. The<br />
“Spanish Preparation” course, which is a non-traditional<br />
approach, is required before one begins the<br />
