Kids’ Stuff Our kids’ classes blend fun, learning and sometimes the outdoors for experiences that children will remember for a lifetime. Children and teens build skills and learn new ideas to assist their understanding of our world. Jazz Dance (Ages 8 to 10) NEW! OFF CAMPUS Fee $65 TUESDAY, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., February 6, 7 wks. Course #KS322 01/CRN 31406 Joan Kashauer Kids will learn the fundamentals of jazz dance in this class. The roots of jazz dance date back to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. Students will explore the beginnings of this dance form and cover musical beats, rhythms, timing, call and response of music and movements, syncopation of music and movement. The class will encompass a warm-up jazz segment, mirror and circle time to learn to hear and create rhythms, an across the floor segment, choreographing small movement phrases and dances, and a cool-down period to reflect and relax the body. Joan Kashauer is a dance instructor with years of experience teaching kids creative movement and dance. Young Adventure Camp (Ages 5 to 7) Fee $144 MONDAY through FRIDAY, 8 a.m. to noon, April 2, 5 days. Students have the opportunity to do low events on the Challenge Course. Skilled instructors with years of teaching experience will provide kids with opportunities to learn while having fun. Take your 35- mm camera on two location shoots, develop blackand-white film and make prints from your negatives in the darkroom. The focus is on composition, print quality, good darkroom techniques and having fun — one of the most important elements in capturing memorable moments. All levels of students are welcome.
