6–Installation and Set Up<br />

Installing the Host-based <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> on Linux<br />

NOTE:<br />

After installing the <strong>QLogic</strong> <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>, the user must reboot the server<br />

or use the following startup procedures for the new installation to take effect.<br />

Starting the <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong><br />

1. Start the <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>:<br />

/etc/init.d/qlogic_fm start.<br />

2. Verify that all the tasks are up and running:<br />

/etc/init.d/qlogic_fm status.<br />

NOTE:<br />

The default configuration runs <strong>QLogic</strong> <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> on port 1 of the first Host<br />

Channel Adapter in the system.<br />

qlogic_fm Options<br />

To run the <strong>Fabric</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> on either port 2, or ports 1 and 2, the user must edit the<br />

/etc/sysconfig/qlogic_fm.xml configuration file.<br />

The following are the detailed options for qlogic_fm:<br />

Syntax<br />

/etc/init.d/qlogic_fm [start|stop|restart|reload|sweep|status] [-i instance] [-f]<br />

[component|compname|insname]... ]<br />

start<br />

Start the selected instances/managers.<br />

stop<br />

Stop the selected instances/managers.<br />

restart<br />

Restart (for example, stop then start) the selected instances/managers.<br />

reload<br />

Reload the configuration for the selected instances and managers (this option<br />

only handles changes to the parameters).<br />

sweep<br />

Force a fabric resweep for the selected instances/managers.<br />
