6 Installation and Set Up
Installing the Host-based Fabric Manager on
Linux
NOTE:
The Host QLogic Fabric Manager software requires that the same version of
the QLogic InfiniBand Adapter host stack be installed with at least the
adapter drivers. These drivers must be set to startup.
Installing the Fabric Manager
The installation provides an interactive INSTALL and is packaged as a tgz. QLogic
recommends to use the ./INSTALL.The rpms are still within the tgz file and can be
installed using standard rpm commands if required. The INSTALL command
installs the QLogic Fabric Manager (qlogic_fm). When using the INSTALL
command (in QLogic-FM-* or QLogicIB-IFS-*), the installation process
interactively prompts the user to keep or upgrade the QLogic Fabric Manager
configuration file. The new configuration file is always placed in a -sample file for
later reference. This procedure is different from the previous rpm install method,
where the user had to manually copy the new .rpm file.
The installation upgrades any existing /etc/sysconfig/iview_fm.config
file to the corresponding /etc/sysconfig/qlogic_fm.xml file. The installer
detects if the iview_fm.config file matches the default 4.3.1, 4.3 or 4.2.1.2.1
GA versions, in which case it uses the default qlogic_fm.xml file. If the
iview_fm.config file has been edited by the user and does not match one of
these prior release files, a converter creates a functionally equivalent
qlogic_fm.xml file. If there is no existing iview_fm.config (such as a first
time install), a default qlogic_fm.xml is installed.
