SCORING RUBRIC FOR CLASS 1 ASSIGNMENT<br />
The class 1 assignment is an assessment of knowledge of basic library collections and services. The assignment consists of ten questions. Each correct answer is worth one<br />
point and each incorrect answer is scored as zero points. An assignment score of three is rated inadequate, five is rated adequate, and eight is rated proficient.<br />

Conclusion<br />
Academic libraries and librarians are<br />
strong advocates for encouraging universities<br />

across the curriculum. Librarians recognize<br />
and understand teaching faculty’s<br />
frustrations of students’ lack of understanding<br />
of assignments that require them<br />
to locate, critically analyze, and utilize<br />
information. Students who have not developed<br />
information literacy skills often find<br />
these types of assignments extremely confusing<br />
and difficult. Librarians have<br />
become experts in instructing faculty, staff,<br />
and students on how to locate, analyze,<br />
and use information. Thus, the role of the<br />
library and librarians is significantly important<br />
to the mission and goals of a university,<br />
as well as to the educational value of<br />
the student’s overall learning experience.
