CRUISE CHECKLIST
Not required if remaining in the traffic pattern.

1. CRUISE POWER SET
Reduce the throttle then the propeller control to SET the desired CRUISE
POWER setting. For training purposes, 23” MP/2300 RPM should be used.
Otherwise, reference the power setting table in the ERAU PA-28R-201
Checklist for an appropriate manifold pressure and RPM setting. The
maximum recommended cruise power setting is 75% MCP.
2. MIXTURE LEAN
After setting cruise power, LEAN the MIXTURE in accordance with the
appropriate Leaning Procedures on page 17.
NOTE
When maneuvering in the ERAU local practice areas, the
Mixture Control will be left in the established lean position.
NOTE
The Mixture Control must be set to full rich for cruise power
settings above 75% MCP.
3. LANDING LIGHT ON (OFF)
Verify that the LANDING LIGHT is ON for collision avoidance precautions.
The strobe lights should remain ON. Turn the lights OFF only when
operating in clouds, low visibility conditions, at night, or in any other
condition where having the lights ON would compromise safety of flight.
4. CRUISE CHECKLIST COMPLETE
Upon completion of the CRUISE CHECKLIST, verify that all items have
been accomplished and that the checklist is COMPLETE.
