Verification not required<br />
1. TRAFFIC CHECK<br />
With the airplane facing towards the approach end of the runway, visually<br />
CHECK that the final is clear of TRAFFIC.<br />
2. MIXTURE FULL FORWARD (Full Rich)<br />
Place the MIXTURE CONTROL to the FULL FORWARD (Full Rich)<br />
position for takeoff (for high elevation airport operations, see NOTE, page<br />
17).<br />
3. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ON<br />
Depress the ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP switch to the ON position and check<br />
that the fuel pressure increases slightly.<br />
4. LIGHTS ON<br />
Turn the LIGHTS ON as appropriate:<br />
- Day: Turn the landing light and strobe lights ON for collision avoidance.<br />
- Night: Turn the landing light ON for takeoff visibility and collision<br />
avoidance. Nav lights should be ON per 14 CFR Part 91.209. Turn the<br />
Strobe Lights ON only after taxiing onto the runway or, to avoid<br />
distraction and disorientation, when safely airborne.<br />
NOTE<br />
Avoid shining lights directly at another aircraft. Turn off strobe<br />
lights during low visibility to avoid becoming distracted and<br />
disoriented.<br />
5. PITOT HEAT OFF (ON)<br />
Verify that the PITOT HEAT is OFF, or ON if the outside air temperature is<br />
50°F (10°C) or below with visible moisture (i.e. clouds, fog, mist, rain, etc.).<br />
