2. FUEL SELECTOR VERIFY POSITION
VERIFY the POSITION of the FUEL TANK (Fullest Tank).
CAUTION
If the fullest tank has not been selected, do not select the fullest
tank just prior to takeoff (a critical phase of flight). Wait until
reaching a safe altitude.
3. STABILATOR TRIM/RUDDER TRIM N (Neutral)/SET
Verify that the STABILATOR TRIM is set to the N (Neutral) position and the
RUDDER TRIM is SET as appropriate.
4. EMERGENCY GEAR LEVER UP/SECURE
Check the EMERGENCY GEAR LEVER (located between the front seats
and to the left of the flap control handle) to ensure that it is in the UP
position and SECURE.
5. FLAPS SET/VERIFY
Ensure that the FLAPS are SET for a normal/crosswind takeoff (0°), or a
short or soft-field takeoff (25°). When changing the flap position on the
ground, verify that you have the Flap Control Handle and call out, “Flaps
Identified”. Wait for the IP to respond, “Flaps Verified”, and then place the
Flaps Switch in the 25° position. Visually VERIFY that both flaps move
toward and stop in the appropriate position.
6. FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS/AVIONICS SET
Check that the FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS and AVIONICS are SET for
takeoff. Check the altimeter and HSI for proper indications and confirm that
the appropriate frequencies have been selected. Set the heading bug to the
departure runway heading.
7. CABIN DOOR/STORM WINDOW CLOSE/LATCH
CLOSE (do not slam) the CABIN DOOR and LATCH the door first with the
cabin door side latch, followed by the top latch. After latching, push out on
door to confirm that it is securely latched.
CLOSE the pilot-side STORM WINDOW and LATCH it with the rotating
latch at the top of the window.
