10. ALTERNATOR CHECK
Check the ammeters for normal indications.
CAUTION
Do not turn the alternator off to check ammeter loads.
11. ENGINE INSTRUMENTS/ANNUNCIATORS CHECK
CHECK the following ENGINE INSTRUMENTS:
- Ammeters and Vacuum Gauge: Check that the ammeter is
indicating a load (at least for normal battery charging). Verify that the
suction gauge is indicating between 4.8” to 5.1” Hg to ensure that
adequate vaccum is being provided.
- Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature Gauges: Verify that the oil
pressure gauge is indicating between 60-90 psi and the oil
temperature gauge is indicating between 75°-245° F.
- Fuel Flow/Pressure and Fuel Quantity Guages: Verify that the fuel
flow/pressure gauge is indicating between 2 – 21.4 GPH/.05 – 12 psi.
Check the fuel quantity guages for proper indications.
Check that all ANNUNCIATOR lights are extinguished.
12. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR OPEN/CHECK
Move the ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR to the OPEN position to CHECK
that the engine continues to operate.
13. THROTTLE CLOSE
With the Alternate Air Selector in the Open position, smoothly reduce the
THROTTLE to the CLOSE position and check engine operation. The
engine should operate smoothly at 500-600 RPM.
14. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR CLOSE
Move the ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR to the CLOSE position and check
engine operation.
15. THROTTLE 1000 RPM
Smoothly move the THROTTLE forward to set 1000 RPM.
