HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST<br />
NOTE<br />
An abnormally high oil temperature may be caused by a low oil<br />
level, an obstruction in the oil cooler, damaged or improper<br />
baffle seals, a defective or faulty gauge, a thermocouple, etc.<br />
CAUTION<br />
Watch the oil pressure gauge for an accompanying loss in<br />
pressure.<br />
1. MIXTURE ............................................................................ ENRICHEN<br />
2. THROTTLE ............................................................................. REDUCE<br />
3. AIRSPEED ........................................... INCREASE (altitude permitting)<br />
If engine overheating persists:<br />
4. AIRPORT ..................................................................................... LAND<br />
5. HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST ........................... COMPLETE<br />
1. MIXTURE ENRICHEN<br />
ENRICHEN the MIXTURE to assist in engine cooling.<br />
2. THROTTLE REDUCE<br />
REDUCE the THROTTLE to assist in engine cooling.<br />
3. AIRSPEED INCREASE (altitude permitting)<br />
If altitude permits, INCREASE indicated AIRSPEED (shallow dive) to<br />
provide additional airflow to aid in engine cooling.<br />
If engine overheating persists:<br />
4. AIRPORT LAND<br />
LAND at the nearest suitable AIRPORT as soon as practical.<br />
5. HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST COMPLETE<br />
Upon completion of the HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST, verify<br />
that all items have been accomplished and that the <strong>checklist</strong> is<br />
COMPLETE.<br />
