HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST
NOTE
An abnormally high oil temperature may be caused by a low oil
level, an obstruction in the oil cooler, damaged or improper
baffle seals, a defective or faulty gauge, a thermocouple, etc.
CAUTION
Watch the oil pressure gauge for an accompanying loss in
pressure.
1. MIXTURE ............................................................................ ENRICHEN
2. THROTTLE ............................................................................. REDUCE
3. AIRSPEED ........................................... INCREASE (altitude permitting)
If engine overheating persists:
4. AIRPORT ..................................................................................... LAND
5. HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST ........................... COMPLETE
1. MIXTURE ENRICHEN
ENRICHEN the MIXTURE to assist in engine cooling.
2. THROTTLE REDUCE
REDUCE the THROTTLE to assist in engine cooling.
3. AIRSPEED INCREASE (altitude permitting)
If altitude permits, INCREASE indicated AIRSPEED (shallow dive) to
provide additional airflow to aid in engine cooling.
If engine overheating persists:
4. AIRPORT LAND
LAND at the nearest suitable AIRPORT as soon as practical.
5. HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST COMPLETE
Upon completion of the HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE CHECKLIST, verify
that all items have been accomplished and that the checklist is
COMPLETE.
