ENGINE ROUGHNESS CHECKLIST<br />
Engine roughness may be caused by induction system icing or<br />
ignition problems.<br />
If induction icing is suspected:<br />
1. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR .................................................... OPEN<br />
2. MIXTURE ................................................................................ ADJUST<br />
If engine roughness continues after one minute:<br />
3. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR ...................................................CLOSE<br />
4. MIXTURE ................................................................................. ADJUST<br />
5. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP .................................................................. ON<br />
6. ENGINE GAUGES .................................................................... CHECK<br />
7. IGNITION SWITCH ............................................... CHECK L/R (BOTH)<br />
If satisfactory engine operation on either magneto can be obtained:<br />
8. THROTTLE ............................................................................. REDUCE<br />
9. MIXTURE CONTROL ................................FULL FORWARD (Full Rich)<br />
10. AIRPORT ..................................................................................... LAND<br />
If engine roughness persists:<br />
11. AIRPORT ..................................................................................... LAND<br />
12. ENGINE ROUGHNESS CHECKLIST ................................. COMPLETE<br />
If induction icing is suspected:<br />
1. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR OPEN<br />
Move the ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR to the OPEN position.<br />
2. MIXTURE ADJUST<br />
ADJUST the MIXTURE to attempt to obtain smooth engine operation.<br />
If engine roughness continues after one minute:<br />
3. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR CLOSE<br />
Move the ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR to the CLOSE position.<br />
4. MIXTURE ADJUST<br />
ADJUST the MIXTURE to attempt to obtain smooth engine operation.<br />
