ENGINE FIRE DURING START CHECKLIST<br />

If the engine has not started:<br />

1. STARTER ..................................................... CONTINUE TO ENGAGE<br />

2. MIXTURE CONTROL .................................................... IDLE CUT-OFF<br />

3. THROTTLE ................................................................ FULL FORWARD<br />

NOTE<br />

If the engine starts, continue operating to ingest the fire into the<br />

engine. If the fire continues, shut down the engine and evacuate.<br />

4. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ................................................................ OFF<br />

5. MIXTURE CONTROL .................................................... IDLE CUT-OFF<br />

6. THROTTLE ................................................................ FULL FORWARD<br />

7. IGNITION SWITCH ........................................................................ OFF<br />

8. BATTERY MASTER SWITCH ........................................................ OFF<br />

9. PARKING BRAKE ................................................................. RELEASE<br />

10. FUEL SELECTOR .......................................................................... OFF<br />

11. FIRE EXTINGUISHER ............................................................. OBTAIN<br />

12. AIRPLANE ......................................................................... EVACUATE<br />

1. STARTER CONTINUE TO ENGAGE<br />

CONTINUE TO ENGAGE the STARTER in an attempt to ingest the flames<br />

into the engine through the carburetor.<br />

NOTE<br />

If the engine starts, continue its operation to ingest the fire into<br />

the engine and extinguish the flames. Once the fire has been<br />

extinguished, shut down the airplane’s engine and have Fleet<br />

Maintenance inspect it. If the fire continues, shut down the<br />

engine and evacuate the aircraft.<br />

2. MIXTURE CONTROL IDLE CUT-OFF<br />

Place the MIXTURE CONTROL in the IDLE CUT-OFF position.<br />

3. THROTTLE FULL FORWARD<br />

Move the THROTTLE to the FULL FORWARD position.<br />
