12. THROTTLE FULL FORWARD
Because the engine could be flooded, push the THROTTLE to the FULL
FORWARD position.
13. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP OFF
Depress the ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP switch in the OFF position.
14. IGNITION SWITCH BOTH (START)
Verify that the IGNITION SWITCH is in the BOTH position if the propeller is
windmilling. If the propeller has stopped, turn the Ignition Switch key to the
START position to attempt an engine restart.
NOTE
If the engine starts, smoothly move the Mixture Control to the
Full Forward (Full Rich) position, and adjust the throttle to set
the desired power setting.
If the engine fails to start:
15. TRANSPONDER 7700
Enter 7700 (emergency code) into the TRANSPONDER to alert ATC (your
aircraft “tag” will flash on the radar screen).
16. RADIO MAYDAY
If not already in communication with ATC, attempt to establish RADIO
contact with ATC on the last frequency used, or transmit on 121.50 MHz to
make a MAYDAY call. State the aircraft registration number and position, if
known, or last known position and estimated position relative to it, the
number of “souls” on board, and the color of your airplane.
Emergency Landing Without Engine Power Checklist:
17. PASSENGER SEATS/SEATBACKS UPRIGHT
Ensure that all PASSENGER SEATBACKS are in the full UPRIGHT
position for landing.
18. SEATBELTS/HARNESSES ON
Ensure that passenger SEATBELTS and shoulder HARNESSES are ON
and adjusted.
