NOTE<br />
The appropriate sectional chart can provide the approximate<br />
ground elevation in order to plan the approach with the key<br />
points in mind.<br />
3. FUEL SELECTOR SWITCH TANKS<br />
Move the FUEL SELECTOR to SWITCH to the other TANK to determine if<br />
providing fuel supplied from the other tank will aid in engine restart.<br />
4. FLAPS 0°/UP<br />
Verify that the Flap Control Handle is in the 0° position and that the FLAPS<br />
are UP for optimum performance.<br />
5. ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR OPEN<br />
Place the ALTERNATE AIR SELECTOR is in the OPEN position.<br />
6. MIXTURE CONTROL FULL FORWARD (Full Rich)<br />
Place the MIXTURE CONTROL to the FULL FORWARD (Full Rich)<br />
position.<br />
7. ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ON<br />
Depress the ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP switch in the ON position.<br />
8. IGNITION SWITCH BOTH (START)<br />
Verify that the IGNITION SWITCH is in the BOTH position if the propeller is<br />
windmilling. If the propeller has stopped, turn the Ignition Switch key to the<br />
START position to attempt an engine restart.<br />
If the engine fails to start, execute the following restart procedure:<br />
9. AIRSPEED 79 KIAS<br />
Ensure that the airplane is trimmed for 79 KIAS (best glide airspeed, 2750<br />
lbs.) to provide the maximum gliding distance possible.<br />
10. FUEL SELECTOR SWITCH TANKS<br />
Move the FUEL SELECTOR to SWITCH to the other TANK to determine if<br />
providing fuel supplied from the other tank will aid in engine restart.<br />
11. MIXTURE CONTROL IDLE CUT-OFF<br />
Because the engine could be flooded, place the depress the MIXTURE<br />
CONTROL to the IDLE CUT OFF position.<br />
