Seaford Rail Extension Vegetation Management Plan 5.4.1 Weed control Weed control within Area 7 is aimed at controlling Pennisetum clandestinum (Kikuyu) that is invading the high quality samphire and Gahnia communities that exist along the border with Area 8. Management options include spraying with herbicide then burning. If this technique is adopted contact and permission must be obtained from all relevant authorities and close liaison with local council (City of Onkaparinga) and CFS. One patch of Cortaderia sellaona (Common Pampas Grass) and one Lycium ferocissimum (African Boxthorn) is also found within this area. Significant woody weed infestations exist within the upper slopes of Area 7. These areas have not been identified in Figure 13 as they are considered to have low conservation value. Control will depend on funding availability from alternative sources. 77
