ammonia <strong>and</strong> malodorous substances <strong>in</strong>to salts <strong>and</strong> water is used to remove <strong>the</strong><br />
pollutants. F<strong>in</strong>e mist is sprayed <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> polluted air by a hydraulic or pneumatic sprayer<br />
<strong>and</strong> special nozzles.<br />
In <strong>the</strong> <strong>Czech</strong> Republic, <strong>the</strong> technology has been tested at PROALIMEX spol. s r.o. <strong>in</strong><br />
a farm <strong>in</strong> Kožichovice that deals with broiler breed<strong>in</strong>g. A 9.22% reduction <strong>in</strong> ammonia<br />
emissions was shown, <strong>and</strong> a biotechnological additive was simultaneously added to<br />
<strong>the</strong> feed. It reduced ammonia emissions <strong>and</strong> smells.<br />
4.3 | <strong>Technologies</strong> used for remov<strong>in</strong>g, stor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />
us<strong>in</strong>g excrement from livestock husb<strong>and</strong>ry<br />
4.3.1 | The technology of stor<strong>in</strong>g slurry <strong>in</strong> bags<br />
The technology of stor<strong>in</strong>g slurry <strong>in</strong> bags is used at <strong>the</strong> Mišovice pig farm of Zea, a.s.<br />
The slurry <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> breed<strong>in</strong>g stalls is discharged by gravity flow from lower racks <strong>in</strong>to buffer<br />
reservoirs. A pump <strong>and</strong> stirrer homogenises <strong>the</strong> contents of <strong>the</strong> reservoirs <strong>and</strong> pumps<br />
it <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> storage reservoir conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g bags. These bags consist of a multilayer<br />
textile covered by plastic on both sides. The material is resistant to aggressive slurry<br />
<strong>and</strong> sunlight. The bags are filled from <strong>the</strong> top <strong>and</strong> pumped out from <strong>the</strong> bottom. Thanks<br />
to <strong>the</strong> closed system of slurry pump<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> stor<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong>re is no leakage of ammonia<br />
emissions or smells <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> environment.<br />
4.3.2 | Us<strong>in</strong>g separated slurry as plastic litter<br />
Straw, <strong>the</strong> traditional litter material, is not currently available <strong>in</strong> most <strong>Czech</strong> farms.<br />
The reason is <strong>the</strong> more <strong>and</strong> more frequent division of agricultural production <strong>in</strong>to<br />
livestock husb<strong>and</strong>ry <strong>and</strong> plant grow<strong>in</strong>g. Therefore, various litter materials are used <strong>in</strong><br />
current dairy cow box stabl<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
A suitable medium is separated cattle slurry with approximately 60% solids<br />
specifically adjusted for litter<strong>in</strong>g box stables. Litter<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> this manner <strong>in</strong>creases <strong>the</strong><br />
welfare of <strong>the</strong> stabled dairy cows, improves microclimatic conditions 7 <strong>in</strong> stables <strong>and</strong><br />
7 microclimatic conditions – a complex actuation of multiple factors such as temperature, moisture <strong>and</strong> air flow rate, <strong>the</strong><br />
chemical composition of air (a concentration especially of ammonia, carbon dioxide, methane, hydrogen sulphide), etc.
