Do not repay him who does you harm.<br />

Do not say, "I’ll pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the LORD, and he will<br />

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell<br />

you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn<br />

to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let<br />

him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him<br />

two miles. (Matthew 5:38-41 NIV)<br />

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse... Do not repay anyone evil<br />

for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible,<br />

as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge,<br />

my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to<br />

avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry,<br />

feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will<br />

heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil<br />

Friends share their belongings. Between two friends, if one of them is missing something,<br />

it is because the other doesn't have it either.<br />

The burial of a corpse, once it has bypassed the cemetery, will no longer be easy.<br />

An uncle asks his nephew to give him a bag of rice. The nephew told him that he could<br />

not. A little while later the nephew loaned money to a neighbour. The uncle learnt of this,<br />

and being very unhappy he went to find his nephew and told him this proverb.<br />

If two people manage to keep company for a long time, it is certain that one of<br />

them has been patient.<br />

It is patience and tolerance which permits long term relationships.<br />
