DECA students win awards at fall district competition<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Holland</strong> <strong>Springfield</strong><br />
Rotary recently recognized<br />
its Students of the Month,<br />
Luke Breymaier and Joanne<br />
Chung. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Springfield</strong><br />
High School seniors were<br />
selected and honored at a<br />
luncheon held on October 5.<br />
Both students scored a 30<br />
on the ACT and are role<br />
models for all SHS students.<br />
Luke is the son of Dr. Jeff<br />
and Susan Breymaier of<br />
Maumee. He holds a cumulative<br />
grade point average of<br />
4.2 with plans to pursue a degree<br />
in biology before entering<br />
dental school. His goal is<br />
to attend the Ohio State University.<br />
Luke is a multi-sport athlete,<br />
a member of the National<br />
Honor Society, and is<br />
an active volunteer at school<br />
and through his church. He<br />
also works as a lifeguard at<br />
the YMCA and in lawn maintenance.<br />
Joanne is the daughter of<br />
Jake and Jacqueline Chung of<br />
<strong>Holland</strong>. She has accumulated<br />
a GPA of 4.18 and is<br />
planning to pursue a degree in<br />
foreign language at Indiana<br />
University.<br />
In addition to her dedication<br />
to academics, Joanne is a<br />
talented musician and plays<br />
in the SHS Symphonic Band<br />
and the Toledo Youth Orchestra.<br />
She studies at the Toledo<br />
Museum of Art, where she<br />
enjoys drawing and painting,<br />
and volunteers for the<br />
Leukemia and Lymphoma<br />
Society and the Toledo<br />
MetroParks.<br />

Richard H. Bond, 75, of<br />
<strong>Holland</strong>, died Friday, October<br />
12, 2012. He was born<br />
on March 9, 1937, in<br />
Toledo, to Charles and<br />
Louise Bond. He was a<br />
graduate of Maumee Valley<br />
Country Day School, Capital<br />
University, and also received<br />
an MBA from<br />
Bowling Green State University.<br />
He served honorably<br />
in the U.S. Coast Guard. He<br />
married Suzanne in 1963.<br />
In 1980, Richard founded<br />
Sales Link Inc. a manufacturer’s<br />
sales rep agency<br />
which he operated until his<br />
retirement in 2007. He was<br />
active in the Sylvania Rotary<br />
Club, serving a term as president.<br />
He was a member of<br />
Epworth United Methodist<br />
Church, where he volunteered<br />
in many capacities.<br />
An avid golfer, he was a<br />
member of Stone Oak Country<br />
Club, and president of<br />
the Good Fellows golf<br />
group. He enjoyed spending<br />
time at Lakeside, Ohio, and<br />
Lucas County Retired Teachers<br />

Teachers Association<br />
will hold its monthly<br />
luncheon at noon on Thursday,<br />
October 25, at the<br />
Toledo Club, 235 14th<br />

Frank Stiles, former investigator<br />
for the Detective Bureau.<br />
He will share his<br />
experiences, including information<br />
about his non-fiction<br />
