Demystify the web! Learn what makes it tick! If<br />

you’re an artist or crafts person with a desire to show<br />

your work online, or if you have a site you’d like to<br />

update, this multi-level Web Studio is the class for<br />

you. Learn the basics of web design or develop your<br />

existing project with advanced skills. The choice is<br />

yours! At the end of the class, each student will have<br />

a working website at a fraction of the cost of getting<br />

it done professionally and have the experience<br />

necessary to learn how to update and improve<br />

the site in the future. Syllabus includes: basic html<br />

coding, digital imaging and Dreamweaver training.<br />

Advanced topics covered include cascading style<br />

sheets, JavaScript, and templates. Students must<br />

have working knowledge of computers and access<br />

to a digital camera. Students will incur outside costs<br />

for domain name, server space, and reading material.<br />

DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION<br />

Ever wanted to make our own unique collage from<br />

different sources, but wanted to include your own<br />

unique camera work In this course, you will learn to<br />

take photographs, magazine pictures and images<br />

from the web, blend them seamlessly together using<br />

the computer. Photoshop and other applicable<br />

software will be discussed and applied. Basic<br />

computer skills required.<br />

This workshop is a continuing course that branches<br />

off from beginning web design. If you are looking to<br />

expand your web design skills or have an unfinished<br />

web project, then this is the lcass for you. This is<br />

a hands-on open studio style class with demos<br />

and tutorials that focus on the latest trends in web<br />

This course teaches you how to combine the<br />

electronic capabilities of InDesign with established<br />

principles of design and layout. Topics include using<br />

a grid, typography, white space, paper and ink<br />

selection, planning for multi-page documents, and<br />

using spot color. Experience with InDesign is helpful<br />

but not required.<br />

PHOTOGRAPHY AND GALLERY VISITS<br />

FOR INSPIRATION<br />

Friday 3pm – 6 pm<br />

Location: Chicago Galleries and 3 Floor Digital<br />

Media Lab<br />

In this class students will meet at various galleries<br />

throughout the Chicago area (River West, River<br />

North, Pilsen and West Loop). We will spend about<br />

an hour visiting one or two galleries and then spend<br />

the remainder of the time shooting in the respective<br />

neighborhood in response to the work viewed. This<br />

class will convene at EAC during the final two weeks<br />

of the session to work with Photoshop’s Camere Raw<br />

feature on the images they produce in the previous<br />

weeks. The outcome will be a digital portfolio of<br />

imagery, ready for print and web use.<br />

In this workshop, students will learn the basics of<br />

using Dreamweaver and HTML and leave with a<br />

ready-to-post website. We will learn how to insert<br />

images, tables, movies and create links and proper<br />

navigation for a successful basic website. See<br />
