Location: EAC Jewelry Studio
This series of workshops starts off with constructing
a ring and earrings out of wire and beads and
wrapped buttons. Expand your creative skills with
each class project and go home with a gift for
yourself or someone else. Take one or all three. No
experience required.

Silk Screen 101

Location: Noyes Studio 221
Check out this intriguing method for creating a silk
screen in only seconds and you’ll be hooked. Screens
can be used to print on fabric, paint on any flat
surface with paint, dye, glue, gesso, discharge paste,
and many other mediums. One large (7” x 9”) screen
is included in your class fee; additional screens
may be purchased. This is a fast and fun method of
printing to add to your toolbox.

Basic Mosaics

Sunday, September 25, 1pm – 4pm
Location: EAC 2 North
A perfect introduction to basic mosaics is to spend
three hours on a Sunday afternoon exploring the
colorful and textured properties of ceramic tile and
glass. Learn about design and composition, breaking
and cutting tile, adhesives and substrates. Grouting
will be demonstrated. Students will go home with
a mosaic piece and the desire to make more. All
materials and use of tools are provided. Please feel
free to bring your own collection of ceramic tiles,
glass, stones, and broken china.

DIMENSIONAL LINES

Saturday, October 1, 1pm – 4pm
Location: Make Room 1st Floor EAC
This workshop will explore and discuss the
possibilities of a drawn line transforming into a
three-dimensional construction. Drawn images will
be created from observations of the interior and
exterior of the EAC building. These drawings will
be used as visual reference to create dimensional
lines employing a wide range of traditional and
alternative materials. Collectively these lines will be
used to create a sculptural installation, which will
occupy and interrogate the Art Center’s architecture.
Students are encouraged to bring re-cycled
materials and found objects to create their 3-D
construction. All skill levels welcome.

SHIBORI WITH NATURAL DYES ON SILK

Saturday, December 10, 9:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Make Room 1st Floor EAC
Make lovely images on silk with natural dyes
applying a Shibori resist technique. Applying natural
dye materials such as madder, cutch, cochineal
insects, mordant processes will be introduced. Overdyeing
and use of different mordant such as alum,
tannin, and iron, create a wide range of hues. Lovely
colors and patterns appear magically.

Watercolor

Location: 2 North EAC
This class will begin with the basic techniques of flat washes, shading,
transparent glazes, wet-on-wet, dry brush and development of
color studies. Exercises to help jump start creativity
will be utilized and the emphasis on process will be stressed.

MULTI-LEVEL ENAMELING

4 Weeks Beginning November 14
Location: Jewelry Studio at Noyes
This beautiful art form involves sifting and layering
colored glass onto a metal base. Beginners learn
enameling techniques and complete sample
pieces, and then deign and make a piece of their
choice. Advanced students work on more complex
projects, improving or learning new techniques.

FASHION INSPIRED BY SITE

Saturday, November 5, 1pm to 4pm
Location: Make Room 1st Floor EAC
Using cloth as the medium, students will work from
specific shapes, as well as site-inspired materials - for
color, texture, and dimension - to make experimental
3-D wearables. Students will use digital cameras and
sketch books to observe and record the Art Center
building and surroundings before returning to the
classroom to translate their observations into garments.

FABRIC AS PAINT
Saturday, October 22, 9:30am – 4:30pm
(One hour lunch break)
Sunday, October 23, 1pm – 4pm

Location: 2 South EAC
Work with fusible web/interfacing that adheres
to fabric with a paper backing, making it easy to
cut and paste as with paper collage. Students will
complete a piece of artwork and have learned basic
embroidery and piecing skills as well have received
an introduction in color theory.

TASTE OF STAINED GLASS

Saturday, October 22, 12:30pm – 3:30pm and
Sunday, October 23, 1pm – 4pm
Learn basic stained glass skills like cutting glass,
foiling the pieces and soldering them to create a
simple design to hang in a window and capture the
light. All materials provided.
