Site I & IV • Total dissolved solids has increased slightly in downstream locations from Jan, 2000 to March, 2002. • Hardness is almost same • Flouride content exceeds the permissible limit at many locations • At some locations 4 -5 km away downstream of proposed site (Tikri village), TDS and Hardness has been observed to be less in March 2002. Site II • At some locations total dissolved solids and hardness both have been observed to be less in March 2002. • Flouride content exceeds the permissible limit at many locations Site III • At some upstream locations, total dissolved solids and hardness have been observed to increase whereas at some downstream locations they have decreased. • Some locations Lead was found to be more than the standard limit of 0.05 ppm. • Flouride content exceeds the permissible limit at many locations The ground water quality around site I (Bawana) is potable except for presence of Fluoride at some locations (Refer Annex III for Drinking water standards). The ground water quality around Site II and Site III shows high value of hardness and TDS. Presence of heavy metal like lead was observed at few locations around site III. However at a depth beyond 30 - 35 m bgl, potable water is available around village Guman Hera. High value of Fluoride in ground water is due to localised effects of natural sources. 4.4 GEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK 4.4.1 General Geological Features of NCT-Delhi The geological formations of the state date from the proterozoic to the Quarternary ages. The generalised succession of the rock formations reported are the Quaternary era represented by recent soils, alluvium, blow sand and nodular limestone; Pegamites and the basic intrusives belonging to post Delhi intrusives; and the Alwar quartrzites of the Delhi system.
