Site - III: Village Guman Hera Location on toposheet: This site is located on Survey of India Toposheet No. 53D/14 and 15 in C3 Grid and lie in extreme southwest corner. The 5 km radius study area lie between 76 0 52' 39" and 76 0 58' 55" N Latitude and 28 0 28' 39" and 28 0 34' 39" E Longitude. Physical location: The site lies adjacent to a Gooshalla run by Maharaj Guru Chaya. It is around 7 km from Guman Hera crossing. Fig. 4.6 shows the location and physiocultural details of the site, etc. Accessibility: It is approachable from Delhi. There are two main access roads, one from village Sikarpur and other from Najafgarh. It is approx. 11 Km from Khera Morh, Najafgarh. Fig 4.7 shows the major roads and settlements around the site. Major Settlements around the site: The site encompasses Jatikra village in the east, Mankraula in the south beyond Drain No. 8 (Najafgarh drain), Galibpur in the west and Daryapur Khurd in the north. Besides these, 10 more villages are scattered within the study area. They are namely: Malakpur Zer, Najafgarh, Sarangpur, Jhuljhili, Raota, Deorala, Khar Khari Raund, Hasanpur, Aslatpur, Daulatpur, Sikarpur etc. Area: The total area of the proposed site is reported to be 56 hectares (140 acres). The photo plate 9, 10 depicts the immediate vicinity of the site. IMPORTANT FEATURES Some of the major site sensitivity attributes are : • The site lie in the salt affected area with scattered shrub grass vegetation, amidst patches of brick Kiln relics and small temporary water pools. • The land has been acquired by Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Govt. of NCT - Delhi. • No human population is within 1 km. A Gaushala (Cow shed) is adjacent to the site however, no regular use by inhabitants. • One tube well is existing just closed to the site. The water is being used for irrigation of the nearby area. • Nearest building is that of a school which is 1 km away. • A foot path connect the road from the proposed site to Guman Hera village • It is located in wastelands within a dominantly agricultural land use Environment Division, National Productivity Council, New Delhi 4

Physical Location: This site is situated at a distance of 5 Km from Bawana village on the right side of Bawana - Narela road. Fig 4.8 shows location of the site. Accessibility: The mud road ( approx. 500 m through agricultural fields) to the site begins just opposite to a CRPF campus (which is on the left side of the Bawana - Narela road). This site is 16 Km away from Samai Pur (Badli) towards north. Area: The total area of the site is about 150 acres (60 Hectares). IMPORTANT FEATURES Some of the Salient features are given below: ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ The site is at present owned by MCD. The sweet drinking water is available at 2m bgl. Also, the site falls within the groundwater recharge zone of western Yamuna canal. The top soil (silty sand) appears to be infertile displaying visible specks of saline salts on the surface. Except for some dispersed shrubs and bushes the whole area is barren and almost flat. The site is a waste land as plantations put up earlier by the Forest department have proved unsuccessful. Over the extreme boundary of the site, a high tension power line passes. On the left side of the mud approach road, there exists an illegal deskinning area (approx. 1 acre) for fallen animals.
