Rapid EIA Studies of 3 Pre-identified Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites in NCT - Delhi: Page No.31 drain and Bawana escape, behind the rice mill. Construction of a 60 m wide road is seen under progress. A Power Line, Rice mill and a bridge under construction are the good reference points. Narela and Bawana townships lie on the periphery of 5 km radius study area. Along the Bawana escape some marsh waste is visible. Acessibility: It is approachable from Delhi by taking Delhi - Bawana - Narela road and from there an offshoot from Narela Check Post to village Sanoth. Major Settlements around the site: Some of the important villages of the study areas are : Ghoga, Sanoth, Kureni, Bhorgarh, Holambi Kalan and Khurd, Khera Khurd, Raout Nagar, Shahpur Garhi, Burwala, Puth Khurd, Gangabari, etc. The Northern Railway main line passes through the eastern part of the study area with Narela and Khera Kalan Railway Stations. Fig 4.2 shows the major roads and settlements around the site. Area : Site covers a area of about 6 ha (15 acres) The location of the site is shown on Fig. 4.3. IMPORTANT FEATURES Some of the important features of the site are : • The site has flat topography. • A 440 KV high-tension line passes through the site. • No permanent population within 500 meters. • Source of drinking water is beyond 2500 meters. • Site is presently not being used • Nearest off site rice mill is beyond 1000 meters. • Agriculture is a dominant land use and would be followed by industrial. • Wet lands around Bawana escape are beyond 1 km. • There is no major surface water body except the narrow Ghoga drain (which was dry during the period of study) and Bawana escape within 300 meter. However, Western Yamuna Canal is at about 2 km from site. • This site falls under the following survey numbers: 40/13, 23, 3, 8, 45/13 • The proposed site doesn't fall under any notified forest as per the observation of the Office of Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF). The ownership of the site is with Commissioner of Industries, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. • As per ASI, there is no historical or archaeological significance with in 10 Km radius from the proposed site.
