Each impact is classified as either short-term or long-term impact in the table-7.1 above. 7.4.2 Criteria for Rating the Impacts Impact Rating Criteria Following criteria has been considered for rating of the impacts. For each impact area, the magnitude and importance of impact has been rated on the scale of 1 to 3 Magnitude • High Impact = 3 • Moderate Impact = 2 • Less Impact = 1 Importance • Very Important = 3 • Moderately Important = 2 • Less important = 1 Ranking Criteria Keeping in view, seven major activities having an impact on the environment and considering nine major impact areas (as shown in Tables 7.2 & 7.3) the criteria for overall ranking of the secured landfill facility is developed as follows:- Total Score, if Above 500 The WMF is having very high adverse Impact 500 - 100 The WMF is having Moderate Adverse Impact Below 100 The WMF is having Less Adverse Impact WMF: Waste management facility 7.4.3 Weighted Impacts Without Considering Mitigation Measures Based on the criteria for rating the impacts, the weighted impacts without taking any mitigation measures have been presented in Table 7.2 for major activities in the construction and operation phase of the secured landfill facility. Rapid EIA Studies of 3 Pre-identified Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites in NCT - Delhi Page No.183 In this weighted impact table the entries are presented in the form x(y), where" x" denotes the magnitude of the impact and "y" denotes the importance of the impact while "+" denotes beneficial, " - " denotes adverse impacts and "N" depicts no impact. Therefore total impact value for any activity on environment will be the multiplication of 'x' & 'y'. The activities to be carried out during development and operation of SLF are given below: Construction Phase Code Operation phase Code Excavation/soil filling, embankment and road construction Construction of buildings for personnel facilities, maintenance shop, washing area, storage, treatment facility. A Transportation of waste E B Collection and storage of waste F Bottom liner & cover liner and drainage system construction C Spreading, compaction & consolidation of the waste G Development of green belt D Collection & treatment of leachate H Closure & Post Closure Phase Monitoring of landfill facility I Decommissioning and closure of disposal facility J Environment Division, National Productivity Council, New Delhi 7
