Final Cover System at the top of the Landfill
As per the minimum technical requirements as specified in "Criteria for Hazardous
Waste Landfills" published by Central Pollution Control Board (Hazardous Waste
Management, Series: HAZWAMS/17/2000-01), the final cover system (Refer Figure
6.3) consists of following components:

Surface soil layer:
Thickness = 60 cm (minimum)
Drainage layer of having a
Thickness = 30 cm (minimum)
Co-efficient of permeability = 10 -2 cm/sec (minimum).
A single composite barrier comprising of:
(i) HDPE geomembrane of
Thickness = 1.5 mm (minimum)
(ii) Compacted clay layer:
