Rapid EIA Studies of 3 Pre-identified Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites in NCT - Delhi Page No.168 Chapter-6 CONCEPTUALISED PLAN FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITY 6.1 CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF SECURED LANDFILL FACILITY (SLF) Based on the findings of the EIA studies, the site near village Guman Hera has been recommended for developing it as SLF for disposal of hazardous waste. The conceptual design of SLF is proposed based on the inventorisation of hazardous wastes generated from the industrial units located in 28 approved industrial estates/ areas of Delhi carried out by NPC in the year 2001 as per the Hazardous Waste (Management & Handling) Amendment Rules, 2000. A schematic layout of the proposed facility is given in figure 6.1. 6.1.1 Design Basis for SLF Total quantity of landfill disposable HW = 87,000 m 3 /annum =.96,250 tons/annum The following basis has been considered for the design of the secured landfill facility: 1. Quantity of HW expected after 20 years = 23,25,258 tons (At the annual growth rate of 2 %) 2. Bulk density of the solid waste = 1.1 T/ m 3 (Compacted) 3. Volume of waste = 21,13,871 m 3 4. Tentative Bottom Slope (Traverse) = 3 % 5. Bottom Slope (Longitudinal) = 1.5 % 6. Side slope (inner) = 1:2 (V:H) 7. Side slope (outer) = 1:3 (V:H) 8. Landfill area (10 % excess for Buffer Zone) = 2,63,505 m 2 (26.35 ha) Environment Division, National Productivity Council, New Delhi 7
