For developing a SLF for disposal of 87,000 m 3 /annum of hazardous waste, 26.35
hectares of land is required for 20 years.
Assessment and Evaluation of Sites from Environmental angle
All the four pre-identified sites were assessed with respect to the locational criterias
stipulated by CPCb, MOEf and that adapted by NPC. The compliance of the criterias
by the four sites is summarised below:

Further, detailed site investigation was carried out for all the four sites with respect to
geotechnical properties, hydrological/hydrogeological, geological, soil, ambient air
quality, landuse/landcover, meteorology, demography,etc.
Based on the environmental settings, the sites were evaluated as per the Delphi
technique stipulated by MOEF and by the internationally followed criteria adapted by
NPC.
