COMMUNICATION FROM
THE HEART: AN APPROACH
TO MANAGING STRESS
Elizabeth Spark, MD, Instructor
In this two-session course, we will discover the impact
that language has on our peace of mind, when we
fail to recognize the many subtle ways in which we
coerce and judge ourselves. We will also focus on
the principles of Nonviolent Communication and
learn how to use this inspiring model to support a
way of speaking and listening that results in heartfelt
connection, even in the most challenging situations.
These insights and skills can readily enhance our
well-being as well as our relationships. For more
information on Nonviolent Communication, go to www.
LIVING THE GOOD LIFE:
THE NEW SCIENCE OF HAPPINESS
Lisa Borchetta and Carol Gray, Instructors
The new scientific study of well-being shows us that
we can all be happier. Learn what the latest research
has to say about happiness. We will experiment with
proven happiness-boosting practices and explore
different aspects of well-being, such as gratitude,
meaning, working with character strengths, improving
relationships, and adopting healthy habits. You will learn
about the unexpected benefits of happiness and the
reasons why it’s often easier to see what’s going wrong
in your life than it is to notice what’s going right. Several
diagnostic tools will help you determine your current
level of happiness, pinpoint the specific happinessenhancing
activities that best suit you, and discover your
unique character strengths. Limited to 16.
