are included in the course fee. Finished projects will
be available for pick-up approximately 2 weeks after
INTRODUCTION TO GLASS FUSING
Michel L’Huillier, Instructor
Glass fusing involves permanently binding different pieces
of glass at high temperature in a kiln. Using the extensive
color palette from the Bullseye Glass Company, and
through a series of fun exercises, you will discover the
basics of glass fusing. In the first class, you will learn about
tack-fusing and how to use stencils with glass powders
and frits. In the second class, you will learn to make a
ceramic fiber mold to create a ¼” thick relief tile with tinted
glass float glass, and also create a fused 8” by 8” bowl
or plate. Student creations will then be fused in the kiln
after the class; fused items from the second class can be
picked up in the Community Education office in the school
administration building after March 30th. A materials fee
of $85 is payable to the instructor for all the tools and the
selection of glasses. Students should bring a sketchpad
and safety glasses to class, and be sure to wear close-toed
shoes. Though the class will teach the basics of glass
fusing, it is open to those with experience as well. High
school students are welcome too! Limited to 10.
