Brown and Barineau receive 2011 Fraternity Awards<br />

Robert C. Brown (DVM ’71), <strong>of</strong> Great Falls, Va., received the 2011 A.M. Mills Award from the Lambda<br />

Chapter <strong>of</strong> Alpha Psi; Ivan Barineau (DVM ’76), <strong>of</strong> Havana, Fla., is the 2011 recipient <strong>of</strong> the Fred C. Davison<br />

Award for Distinguished Service, from the Eta Chapter <strong>of</strong> Omega Tau Sigma.<br />

Considered the initial force behind veterinary management in Virginia, Dr. Brown has stayed on the<br />

forefront <strong>of</strong> management education and technology in veterinary services and become a resource for others<br />

interested in veterinary business practices. He was a charter member <strong>of</strong> the Veterinary<br />

Brown<br />

Management Group One within Veterinary Study Groups, the top veterinary business<br />

management organization in the United States, and regularly promotes and serves Northern Virginia Community<br />

College’s veterinary technology program.<br />

Dr. Barineau was chosen in acknowledgement <strong>of</strong> his service to others, the veterinary pr<strong>of</strong>ession and the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong>. In addition to helping with pony clubs, numerous rescue groups and the New Life Mission<br />

Church, he and his wife Mary spent six years performing extensive mission work in Haiti. Dr. Barineau owns<br />

Cumberland Animal Hospital, where he practices small animal medicine.<br />
