KAYAK: MOONLIGHT TOUR

Dusk is a magical time to be on the water, so what
could be more blissful than paddling a canoe by
moonlight We push off as the sun sets for an evening
of relaxation, good food, and conversation. Our
boathouse in Newton, located on the flatwater Lakes
District of the Charles, is the perfect location for this
opportunity to unwind. As the moon rises to light our
way, we’ll watch herons browsing along the banks,
river otters fishing for their last meal of the day, and
other wildlife settling in for the night. Before and during
your time on the water, your guide will share the rich
history of the area, including Canoe Clubs, Norumbega
Park, and the Totem Pole Ballroom, and our own
historic boathouse. After cheese and crackers, light
snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert, we will
return to the boathouse. Bring warm clothing, as it can
get chilly after the sun sets. Our Moonlight Tours are
designed as a slow, relaxing group paddle suitable for
folks of all paddling abilities. Be prepared to paddle
a canoe 2-3 miles over the duration of the tour. Go

Effective communication in email, writing and public
speaking are keys to this goal. Unsure how to make
improvements in these areas This class could
be the inspiration you need to step up your quality
and change how you are perceived by your boss,
colleagues, clients, or employees. You will learn how
to use the appropriate tone and content for successful
PowerPoint presentations, reports and interoffice
communication. The class will look at actual business
writing samples – from the best to the bloopers – to
help illustrate what makes for effective workplace
writing. Join us for useful tips and advice, presented in
a supportive and unthreatening environment (students
will not be asked to share writing unless comfortable
doing so). Limited to 16.

JUMPSTART YOUR WRITING

This class has a very clear mission: spend more time
writing! Find your voice and boost your creativity
through a series of fun directed writing exercises. We
will discuss published pieces and the process of writing
as a means to exploring new possibilities in subject,
style, and point of view, and how to shape characters
and create great images. Participants will have several
chances to read and receive feedback on the work they
produce, all in a supportive environment. This class is
appropriate for all level of writers working on nonfiction,
memoir, or novels. Please bring a pen and notebook
(or laptops) to class. Limited to 12.
