STONE CARVING
WORKSHOPS
Scott Cahaly, Instructor
Join us for a one-day workshop, appropriate for both
beginners and more experienced carvers. Hand-carving
techniques and stone carving lore will be demonstrated
and discussed. Use of the studio’s tools and a modest
(4-8 pound) piece of alabaster are included in the course
fee. Discussion of safe studio practices and stone and
tool sourcing help make this session an excellent initiation
to the craft of stone sculpture. A strong emphasis will be
put on tool usage as well as the process of looking into
the rock for imagery! Students will emerge with a stone
sculpture in progress. The group will have a short lunch
break (please bring a bag lunch from home) and rest,
accompanied by a digital slide show. Class is appropriate
for adults and teens aged 16 and older. For more
information, go to http://www.stonecarvingdust.blogspot.
com/ Note that it is our policy to give a refund (minus a
$10 processing fee) for withdrawals only if we are notified
a week or more before the class date.
