program 

Admission requirements 

Admission requirements applicable to each program are listed 

under the program description. 

Diploma / Certificate 

Should you be eligible to receive a diploma or certificate at 

the completion of the Spring/Summer 2012 Session, 

you must contact the Registrar’s Office at 705.560.6673 or

a Diploma or Certificate request form online at

Academic qualifications 

Part-time studies leading to one of the following Academic 

Qualifications must be completed within a 5-year period: 

• Ontario College Graduate Certificate – OCGC 

• Ontario College Diploma – OCD 

• Ontario College Certificate – OCC 

• Collège Boréal Certificate – CBC 

Seniors 

Applicants who are 60 years of age or older are granted a 

special rate for courses. This discount does not apply to 

General Interest courses or to the registration as an auditor. 

Only the basic tuition fees are reduced. Ancillary fees and 

course material fees are the same as for a regular student. 

Class cancellations 

When the course start date is extended or when a class is 

cancelled, we will make every effort to contact you at the 

telephone numbers provided on your student file.

Tuition fees are due at registration. Payments by Visa or 

MasterCard, debit card, cheque, cash or Internet banking are 

accepted. 

Note: Educational supplies fees for all courses are not 

refundable. Course material costs are not included in the 

tuition fees. 

Refund Policy 

Credit courses 

A full refund is granted when the course is cancelled by the 

college. A partial refund (less $10 administration fee) is 

granted up to 10 days after the course start date. 

Withdrawal 

Withdrawal from a course may be notified through the student 

portal or by contacting the nearest Collège Boréal campus. 

Course withdrawal can be done by email at: 

registrariat@collegeboreal.ca. 

Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal. 

Non-credit courses 

Courses identified by EDP course codes: 

A full refund is granted when the course is cancelled by 

the college. 

A partial refund (the total cost of the course less a $10 

administration fee) is granted to students who withdraw from 

their course within 24 hours after the first class.

A full refund is granted if the withdrawal is notified 5 working 

days prior to the start date, unless otherwise indicated 

excluding Motorcycle Training Course with EDA1041 or

4. Type in your student number. If your have difficulties 

with your student number, contact the Registrar’s

Definition of delivery modes 

l Internet-based Course 

The course is entirely provided through the Internet. 

Upon completing registration in this type of course, 

the student receives an Internet link for access to the 

course. 

n Videoconference Course 

This type of course is offered to students who are 

located in different regions from one another, thus 

allowing them to receive training that otherwise would 

not be available in their area. 

H Classroom Course 

Course offered on the college premises.

Contact North is a distance education and training network 

that provides its services across Ontario. Courses are 

given in real time, which allows communication between 

students and teachers through audioconferencing, 

videoconferencing or the Internet. Students can participate

Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program 

Program description 

The Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program has been designed to assist pharmacy technicians currently working 

in the profession to meet new regulatory requirements and expanded practice capabilities within the Health Systems 

Improvement Act, 2007. 

The Registration Regulation requirements for pharmacy technicians who currently work in the profession and who wish 

to pursue OCP registration are to successfully complete the approved Bridging program and entry to practice examination 

delivered by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC). 

Pharmacy Technicians will be required to provide documented evidence of having completed in full the Bridging program, as 

approved by OCP Council to meet the requirements for registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) 

and to practice in the new and expanded role. 

Admission Requirements 

Successful completion of the OCP certification examination or PEBC national evaluating examination is required prior to start 

of Bridging program. Courses can be taken in any sequence. However, the Structured Training Evaluation (managed by OCP) 

cannot be completed prior to the Management of Drug Distribution for Pharmacy Technician Bridging.

Apprenticeship 

(Offered in French only) 

Level I and II 

Early Childhood Educator (ECE) 

Offered online (on the Internet), this program trains 

educators who work with children from 0 to 12 years of age. 

They plan, organize and lead a variety of activities that 

are adapted to the children’s needs and that contribute 

to the cognitive, physical, language, social and emotional 

development of children. Early childhood educators observe 

children in order to detect developmental delays, learning 

disabilities or emotional disorders. They maintain regular 

contacts with parents and coworkers in order to discuss 

children’s progress or difficulties. 

Apprenticeship programs are intended for individuals who 

wish to increase their professional qualifications profile 

while being sponsored by an employer or that can find a 

sponsoring employer. 

Most of the training, i.e. 80% to 90%, is done in the 

workplace, under the supervision of qualified professionals, 

where the apprentice is able to develop the skills related to 

the chosen trade. Theoretical training is usually delivered 

by a community college in a classroom or through distance 

education. 

Teacher’s Assistant (Level I and II) 

Available online (on the Internet), this program trains 

individuals to work with children and adolescents within 

the school system. Teachers’ Assistants work under the 

direction of teachers to facilitate students’ learning at the 

primary or secondary level. As members of a multidisciplinary 

team, they take part in the development of objectives and 

implementation of instructions and activities prepared by a 

member of the teaching staff.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation requires drivers of air 

brake equipped vehicles to have a Z endorsement on their 

licence. The objectives of the course are to familiarize all 

air brake equipped vehicle operators with the workings of 

air brake systems, to increase safety awareness on Ontario’s 

highways and to reduce the number of accidents resulting from 

improper brake usage and maintenance. 

Basic Certification

This course is Part 1 of the certification process for individuals 

wishing to be certified under guidelines established by the

Mechanical Harvesting – Common Core

The participant will learn to recognize the general health and 

safety hazards and control measures related to safe machine 

operation and have a good understanding of the applicable 

sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the 

Regulations for Industrial Establishments. This course is 

mandatory for all operators and supervisors on harvesting 

operations in Ontario. 

Mobile Crane Operator 0-8 Ton – 

Construction

The participant will learn to set-up, maintain and safely 

operate a mobile crane. The course will also consist of 

calculating crane capacities, setting up mobile cranes 

and pre-op inspections and maintenance as well as other 

important topics. 

Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP)

This course is based on Environment Canada’s “Code of Practice 

for the Reduction of Fluorocarbon Emissions from Refrigeration 

and Air Conditioning Systems”. It deals with the proper handling 

of Ozone Depleting Substances to ensure environmental 

protection and will prepare the participants for complying with 

provincial regulations covering refrigeration and air conditioning 

systems.

A Site Operator license allows an individual to perform the 

following tasks involved with managing/operating a fuel 

facility: record keeping, reconciliation and inventory control; 

maintain pumps including replacing nozzles, spouts, hoses, 

breakaways, filters and belts and; contain and clean up spills 

and leaks. 

Standard First Aid and CPR

Study of the principles of first aid and patient management, 

including artificial respiration. Discussion of choking and 

bleeding, shocks, unconsciousness and faintness, fractures 

and wounds (head, eye, spinal column), burns, poisoning, 

heart attacks and strokes, diabetes, epilepsy, and convulsions. 

This course is mandatory for obtaining many health care 

certificates. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate – 

level C (which includes the reanimation for infants and child) 

is part of the course to obtain the CPR certificate of Ontario.

for the three major commercial vehicle Wheel/Rim Systems. 

Since the course is directed at persons experienced in 

commercial tire service, instruction in tire repair and 

installation is not included in this course.

What do I get 

You get 3 hours of classroom time and 

14 hours on-bike, including testing for your M2 licence 

on-site. You will earn your M2 licence upon successful 

completion, and a certificate qualifying you for a 

significant insurance reduction. 

When does the licence start 

The M2 application (certified) can be handed in the MTO 

61 days after you obtained your M1. So ideally, get your 

M1 up to two months before the training course. M1 

licence limitations apply until the M2 has been obtained. 

Notice that some insurance companies will give you an 

insurance discount only after you have your M2. 

What do I need 

See details regarding M1 written test at MTO Driver Exam 

Centre. We require students to wear a DOT approved 

helmet, leather gloves, a heavy-duty jacket, pants and 

boots. The boot must at least cover the ankle bone. 

Students must sign a waiver acknowledging their 

adoption of the risks involved in taking the course.
