The Brothers of the Atianta<br />

Alunmi Club hosted our annual<br />

Founders Day on February<br />

19 at the Buckhead<br />

Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Atlanta,<br />

Georgia. The event was called<br />

to order by Club President<br />

Mark Galyardt Kansas State<br />

'85 after a grand entrance by<br />

local sports personality<br />

Brother Harmon Wages<br />

Florida '68. The invocation<br />

was given by Brother David<br />

Moss Washington-St. Louis<br />

'65. The 150 brothers in attendance<br />

were then treated to the<br />

kind of dinning experience<br />

only the Ritz-Carlton can provide.<br />

The Atlanta Alumni<br />

Club wishes to give special<br />

thanks to Brother <strong>Phi</strong>l Keb<br />

Georgia Tech '78 for making<br />

our evening at the Ritz-<br />

Carlton possible.<br />

Brother Mark Chandler<br />

Georgia '81 kicked off the<br />

program for the evening with<br />

an update and status of Georgia<br />

Alpha at the University of<br />

Georgia. Brother Chandler<br />

had encouraging news on the<br />

progress Georgia Alpha has<br />

made to re-establish itself as a<br />

leading chapter. The Atlanta<br />

Alumni Club acknowledges<br />

and appredates the dedicated<br />

efforts of Brother Chandler<br />

and many other Georgia Alpha<br />

Brothers who have<br />

worked hard to assist the<br />

chapter.<br />

Brother Tom Adams<br />

Vanderbilt '58 conducted the<br />

Chapter Grand Ceremony.<br />

The program continued with<br />

the introduction of the first of<br />

our special guests for the<br />

evening. Dr. Bob Deloian,<br />

Arizona State '66 President,<br />

<strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> General<br />

Council, who gave the brothers<br />

a much needed update of<br />

Fraternity initiatives including<br />

membership levels and<br />

the substance free by 2000<br />

policy. Dr. Deloian then presided<br />

over the Golden Legion<br />

Ceremony with assistance<br />

from Brother Paul Wagner<br />

Florida State '65. Eighteen<br />

Brothers were inducted into<br />

the Golden Legion with well<br />

deserved applause from the<br />

membership.<br />

Brother Donald Jackson<br />

Auburn '82 was MC for our<br />

annual awards presentation.<br />

Tech '49. Brother Callaway<br />

was greeted with a standing<br />

ovation in recognition of his<br />

lifetime of service in the business<br />

and political arena. Bo<br />

fondly recalled his <strong>Phi</strong>keia<br />

days at Georgia Tech before<br />

attending and graduating<br />

from West Point. The Atianta<br />

Alumni Club is grateful to Bo<br />

for the giving of his time to<br />

be our honored guest and for<br />

imparting wisdom based on<br />

Atlanta Alumni Club members with General Council<br />

President Robert B. Deloian.<br />

his service as a U.S. Congressman,<br />

Secretary of the Army<br />

and as a successful<br />

entrepenuer.<br />

season and the<br />

Bowls may be over<br />

for most Brothers,<br />

but not for Brother<br />

Chuck Rohe,<br />

Citrus Bowl. He is<br />

already seeking sponsorships<br />

for tile '99 Bowl in Orlando,<br />

Florida. Negotiations are constantiy<br />

underway with large<br />

corporations waiting to get in<br />

on the popular and very successfiil<br />

game held each year<br />

on New Years Day. This year<br />

the Florida Gators beat Perm<br />

State Nittany Lions 21-6 before<br />

a record crowd of 74,000.<br />

Brother Robe's group. The<br />

Florida Citrus Sports Assn.<br />

brings major football teams to<br />

Orlando each season as representative<br />

of the Citrus Bowl.<br />

Brother Rohe took over in<br />

1982 when it was called The<br />

Tangerine Bowl, which was<br />

founded in 1947 by the Serros<br />
