Iowa Delta
Drake University
This fall marks Iowa Delta's
37th year at Drake University,
and we continue to be one of
the strongest fraternities on
the street.
Phi Delt's social calendar
this year includes our annual
Phi Delt Phunk Fest, always a
success, several exchanges
with Drake's sororities, and
our fall formal which will be
held at Treasure Island Casino
in Red Wing, MN.
Our senior class has led a
charge in scholarship, increasing
our cumulative GPA for
each of the six semesters they
have been at Drake. The active
chapter this year invited
the children of the Boys and
Girls Club of Iowa to campus
for a three-day Phi Delta
Theta Week in early October.
We played on fire trucks
courtesy of the Des Moines
Fire Department, had a barbecue,
played kickball and
planted four trees in the
middle of campus. It was
hard to tell who had more
fun, the kids or the chapter
members.
Though not in high numbers,
this fall's pledge class of
eight has already bonded together.
They participated in
philanthropies such as assisting
in Drake's family weekend,
helping lead Phi Deh to
its second Sweetheart Sing
championship in three years
and impressing the active
chapter with their desire to be
great Phis.
Iowa Delta would like to
congratulate Brother Mark
Dagitz on his appointment as
Province President of Phi
Province, and we are looking
forward to taking on a new
chapter adviser.—Zach Grain
Minnesota Beta
Mankato State University
The brothers of Minnesota
Beta recently celebrated the
first anniversary with alcoholfree
housing. The pioneering
move received a flood of
positive remarks both on the
campus and off. The fraternity
house is now the most
prominent house on campus
thanks to the grants from
GHQ, the Foundation, and
our respected alumni.
Now there is much talk of
starting a Greek row, but the
details are long and sketchy.
The decision should proceed
when other fraternities and
sororities commit to the idea.
Rumor has it the new houses
will be required to foUow an
alcohol-free policy.
The conununity continues
to benefit from the men from
Phi Delta Theta. The events
last spring distinguished the
brothers as leaders on campus
as we completed four successful
philanthropies. We continued
with highway cleanup and
MDA Jail and Bail. The MDA
events raised just under
$4,000. Other projects included
the Special Olympics
and the tornado storm rehef.
Minnesota Beta welcomes
Brother "Bud" Roberts as tiie
new Lambda province president
who is stepping in for
Brother Daniel Mundahl.
Brother Mundahl has dedicated
five strong years as the
Lambda president. He continues
to serve Phi Delta Theta,
however, and currentiy presides
as the housing corporation
president for the chapter.
Men like him keep the spirit
of the Fraternity alive. Our
hats are off to you, Mr.

Missouri Epsilon
Southwest Missouri State
The Missouri Epsilon at
Southwest Missouri State University
is still going strong.
Brotherhood is at an all time
high, and we are still collecting
about every award there is
to win on our campus. Like
all of the other Phi Delt chapters,
we are adjusting to the
alcohol free housing movement.
It was, and still is,
tough, but we continue to find
ways to remain a strong
fraternity.
We recentiy initiated 6 new
Phis and we currentiy have a
25-man pledge class for the
fall.
Last semester we had the
highest GPA in our chapter
history with a 2.91. We are
currently ranked first in
Greek sports, and if our turnout
for Greek Week is anythmg
like usual, we will be
prime contenders for the
Triple Crown Trophy again!
