finance business now knew Wilson's<br />

name, and they also knew what he could<br />

accomplish. Wilson was building a reputation<br />

as a savvy financial strategist and<br />

began to hire other prodigies, like John<br />

Dasburg, to work with him.<br />

According to Dasburg, "Gary Wilson is<br />

an extremely intelligent, creative and<br />

strategic thinker who has an incredible<br />

knack for bringing talented people together<br />

and creating a productive environment<br />

in which to work. I met him in<br />

1980 when he first recruited me away<br />

from KPMG to Marriott Corporation. I<br />

liked Gary the first time I met him.<br />

While the interview and 'courtship' process<br />

took quite some time, I concluded<br />

that joining Marriott and working for<br />

Gary Wilson would advance my career<br />

and that the experience would also be<br />

enjoyable. Both expectations turned out<br />

to be the case."<br />

Soon thereafter, the two men discovered<br />

another bond; they belonged to the<br />

same Fraternity.<br />

"When I joined Marriott it somehow<br />

came up that Mr. Marriott senior was a<br />

<strong>Phi</strong> and that Gary was a <strong>Phi</strong>, and, [they<br />

questioned,] had I been in any fraternity<br />

in college Of course I mentioned that I<br />

was a <strong>Phi</strong>," said Dasburg.<br />

In Michael Eisner's new autobiography.<br />

Work in Progress, he recalls how<br />

Marriott and Disney met to discuss a<br />

possible joint project. That partnership<br />

never soHdified but Eisner did benefit<br />
