finance business now knew Wilson's
name, and they also knew what he could
accomplish. Wilson was building a reputation
as a savvy financial strategist and
began to hire other prodigies, like John
Dasburg, to work with him.
According to Dasburg, "Gary Wilson is
an extremely intelligent, creative and
strategic thinker who has an incredible
knack for bringing talented people together
and creating a productive environment
in which to work. I met him in
1980 when he first recruited me away
from KPMG to Marriott Corporation. I
liked Gary the first time I met him.
While the interview and 'courtship' process
took quite some time, I concluded
that joining Marriott and working for
Gary Wilson would advance my career
and that the experience would also be
enjoyable. Both expectations turned out
to be the case."
Soon thereafter, the two men discovered
another bond; they belonged to the
same Fraternity.
"When I joined Marriott it somehow
came up that Mr. Marriott senior was a
Phi and that Gary was a Phi, and, [they
questioned,] had I been in any fraternity
in college Of course I mentioned that I
was a Phi," said Dasburg.
In Michael Eisner's new autobiography.
Work in Progress, he recalls how
Marriott and Disney met to discuss a
possible joint project. That partnership
never soHdified but Eisner did benefit
