Foundation grants its first-ever<br />

Graduate Fellowships<br />

When the Trustees voted to oflfer four<br />

fellowships to graduate and professional<br />

students at their faD 1997<br />

meeting, they had no idea how popular<br />

a decision it would be. The re^<br />

sponse was enthusiastic—even<br />

heartwarming. With short notice before<br />

the May 1 deadline, twenty-six<br />

outstanding students hustled to complete<br />

applications for the first four<br />

$2,500 awards.<br />

The judges selected a medical student<br />

and three law students to receive<br />

the first year's fellowships.<br />

Jonathan C. Routh, <strong>No</strong>rth Carolina<br />

State '98, entered medical school at<br />

the University of <strong>No</strong>rth Carolina at<br />

Chapel Hill this fall with the help of one<br />

of our fellowships. His home is Raleigh,<br />

<strong>No</strong>rth Carolina.<br />

Routh is joined by Robert Todd<br />

Sherwin, Texas Christian '98, who has<br />

entered the Texas Tech University School<br />

of Law. Sherwin calls Agoura Hills, California,<br />

home.<br />

Roy T. Van Brunt III, Southeast Missouri<br />

State '96, began his third year at the<br />

University of Baltimore School of Law<br />

this fall. Van Brunt is serving the Fraternity<br />

as a Graduate Educational Advisor<br />

for Maryland Alpha chapter at the University<br />

of Maryland this year.<br />

Alan Gray Bryan, Arkansas '98, is the<br />

fourth fellowship recipient. Bryan began<br />

his studies this fall at the University<br />

of Arkansas School of Law.<br />

Morrilton, Arkansas is his home.<br />

The Lyon Scholarship is available to<br />

students who share Pete Lyon's passion<br />

for making films. It is available to <strong>Phi</strong>s<br />

and to non <strong>Phi</strong>s, to graduate students<br />

and to undergraduates, to men and to<br />

women.<br />

The Trustees express their gratitude to<br />
