\\'R.A.T .\RE PH; DELTS DOING TH.A.T'S how
most of you answer the question, "What
do you want to read about in The Scroll"
So, in this issue \se take a look—from the
sea to the sky—at what a fe^v of our fellow
Phis have been up to.
In Leaders over the Pacific, John
Dasburg and Gary ^\'ilson are at the top
of the world's fourth largest airline.
Northwest Airlines, and share a fe\\ of
their secrets to corporate success. Jim
Muldoon's personaUty is as interesting as
the fact that he captains a "new" sleek
yacht, owns his own business and is
president of U.S. Sailing in The salt of
Wish I could have been there!
THE 150TH A.\xn'ERSARY ISSLT OF THE SCROU
certainly brought back some great memories
for me.
After being initiated into The Bond at the
Uni\"ersity of Cincinnati in 1947,1 attended
the 100th armiversary in Oxford in 1948.
Gene Krupa and his band played in the old
Redskin's stadium after which we roamed
the campus imtil the ^see hours of the
morning singing Phi Delt songs with other
Phis from all over the country. Many of us
went back to the old Phi Delt house to
spend the night. It was so crowded we had
to sleep on the floor.
In 1949 I transferred to Miami and man\-
of the Phis in the pledge class of '48 (pictured
on page two of the sxmimer issue)
were classmates of mine.
Thanks for the great coverage of the
150th. I wish I could have been there.
Phis win at Snake Eyes again!
I \\:\s DISAPPOINTED TO NOT SEE .\NT MENTION
of the results of the Snake E)es Fraternity
Golf Festival pubhshed in The Scroll. The
tournament was held in March 1998 and Phi
The men in this issue have definitely
been up to something. They aren't just
successful—they are leaders.
Delta Theta did well as a whole.
^\e placed third overall behind Pi Kappa
.Alpha and Kappa Alpha Order. There were
21 national fraternities involved. One Phi
Delt pair, myself, and Joe Rossheim,
Clemson '99, won the second fUght. I feel
that Phi Delt had an impressive showing,
considering there were only a handful of us
there. I would liked to have seen these results
pubhshed, not only to congratulate the winners,
but also to draw more attention to a
ftm weekend of golf and fraternity life. If
you are wondering, Joe and I will be returning
next year to defend our tide.
