were Patrick McAshlan '00,
Joe Dixon '00, Chris Lance
'00, and Jon Grabowy '99. In
littie under a semester, we
gathered over a dozen sponsors,
purchased our go-kart
for the race, practiced, and
qualified. This year 59 gokarts
entered the race, of
which 27 will qualify and 6
enter through sprint races.
These go-karts must meet
rigorous safety standards and
have a roll cage built for them
to race. After all the work is
done, over six thousand dollars
is spent on each go-kart
entering the race.
The Purdue Grand Prix is
run by Grand Prix Foundation,
which in turn gives its
profits as scholarships to deserving
students on the
Purdue campus. It is an entirely
student-run organization
and lives up to its slogan
"Students Helping Students."—Andrew

Tennessee—Chattanooga
The spring semester has been
filled with many accomplishments
for the Phis of Tennessee
Epsilon. On January 23rd
we celebrated our 5th year
anniversary at UTC. We were
honored to have Dr. Robert B.
Deloian as our guest speaker.
We would like to thank Dr.
Deloian for taking time out of
his busy schedule to spend
the weekend with the brothers
of Tennessee Epsilon.
Our chapter was involved
in many activities on campus
tills semester including Alpha
Delta Pi 500 Week and Greek
Show. The Greeks raised over
ten thousand dollars for the
Ronald McDonald House
during 500 week. The Phis
walked away widi "The King
of the Lion's Den Award" for
first place and also won
awards for participation,
spirit, and most money
raised. Greek Show at UTC
was a major event for Phi
Delta Theta and all of die
Greeks. Greek Show is a huge
production, involving the fraternities
and sororities, where
everyone gets on stage to
show off their hidden talents
for charity. Phi Deha Theta
walked away with first place
overall and all of the money
raised from ticket sales was
donated to "Room in the Inn,"
a charity for homeless
women.
After a semester like this
students, faculty, and other
Greeks have come to realize
die Phi Delts at UTC are a
force to be reckoned with. We
hope that all Phis everywhere
have a safe and relaxing summer

Virginia Beta
University of Virginia
The brothers of Virginia Beta
will be celebrating their 125th
anniversary on the 24th of
October, 1998. The weekend is
sure to be exhilarating as a
home game against ACC rival
NC State and Doug Clark and
the Hotnuts are scheduled. In
addition to the anniversary,
the chapter currendy is positioning
itself to armounce the
repurchase of the chapter
house from the almrnii partnership.
More details regarding
the house buy-back to
follow during the summer.
The past semester has been
inspiring, as many new events
were created and past traditions
maintained. The brothers,
along with assistance
from the Tri Delts, once again
held a big sibling/Htde sibling
cookout for the volunteers of
Madison House. In April, the
second annual Iron Horse 3-
on-3 charity basketball tournament
raised $2,000 to benefit
Habitat for Humanity.
Brothers Mike Domson, Jimm
Bonk, and Martin Walton repeated
as champions. Foxfield
Weekend included a Founders
Day dinner followed by the
presentation of the Cudlip
Award for outstanding
Phikeia, which went to young
organizations. The chapter
again maintained a spring
semester grade point average
over a 3.0. The semester also
observed the creation of the
Virginia Beta chapter web
page located at
www.student.virginia.edu/
-phidek. The brotherhood
encourages all those interested
to check out the site and
Mike Domson, Virginia '98 goes for two points in the Iron Horse
basketball tournament. The Virginia Phis later won the title.
Andy Mullins of Yorktown,
Virginia. The Phi Open was
held Foxfeild Sunday at
Bridwood Golf Course, where
many of the alumni in for the
weekend took their best shot
at dethroning previous champion
Doug Thiede.
In addition to the many
philanthropic and alumni related
events, the chapter welcomed
eight new Phikeias
during spring rush. As usual,
several are varsity athletes or
are involved in other student
update themselves on Virginia
Beta.
Come fall of 1998, diough,
most events will take a back
seat to the 125th. Further information
will be sent to
alumni during the summer,
with registration to take place
early in the fall semester. The
Boar's Head Inn will be
packed with Phis celebrating
one hundred twenty-five
years of the local chapter and
the 150th anniversary of Phi
