EKU president thanks Phis for their help
Nine Phis from Kentucky Theta volunteered their
assistance for Eastern Kentucky University's Thank-athon
'98. University President Hanly Funderburk wrote a
thanks for their financial support of the university.
This year's skit again landed
us a place in the Sweepstakes
round which only takes the
top three productions. Although
we fmished in third
place, after overcoming the
adversity of losing several
important characters well into
the rehearsal stage, we consider
The onset of spring marked
the return of the annual ISU
VEISHEA celebration. The
highlight of VEISHEA weekend
for most people is the
parade. Each year, we team
with a sorority to build an
amazing float. This year we,
along with the women of Alpha
Omicron Pi, built a float
entitled "Banking on Change"
that depicted a large cash register
with dozens of characters
partaking in various activities.
The endless hours of
tiresome work paid off as we
captured first place within
our size division and second
place overall.
Despite the ongoing activities,
the members of Iowa
Gamma managed to post a
GPA that puts us third
amongst all fraternities. Intermixed
with all the events and
hard work, we continued to
have fun and enjoy our college
years.—John A. Groen
