WHAT YOUR SUPPORT WILL HELP US ACHIEVE With your support the Menuhin Competition Trust will be able to continue to plan, prepare and execute arrangements for the 2016 Competition on the 100th anniversary of Menuhin’s birth. Two years of careful preparation • Global marketing to conservatories and violin teachers around the world to continue to attract the finest entrants. • Selection of the Jury from among the world’s most distinguished violin soloists and teachers (all of whom will both perform and give a masterclass during the competition). • Planning the artistic programme in cooperation with the host organisations. • Pre-selection Jury meeting under the direction of the Artistic Director to choose forty four contestants from the hundreds of applications received. Delivery to the highest standards • Major professional orchestras, conductors, soloists for the Opening Concert (featuring past prizewinners) and the Closing Gala Concert (featuring as soloists the junior and senior first prizewinners). • Recitals and concerts featuring members of the Competition Jury. • Programme of musical outreach giving performance opportunities to participants who do not proceed into the final rounds of the Competition. • A day of masterclasses given by each Jury Member to competitors and selected conservatory students from the host city. • The Competition itself (with the first round and semi-finals leading into the junior and senior final). • Live web stream of the Competition around the world. Supporting prizewinners after the Competition Close contact is maintained with prizewinners – the new ‘Menuhin Laureates’ – as they start their performing careers, guiding them to suitable performing engagements as soloists and in private for Menuhin Competition patrons, as well as with major orchestras and at music festivals around the world.
