IT " IT services from a single source " The Lanfer Systemhaus is the IT service provider of the LB GmbH. During Kick-off, Peter Zimmermann, Dominik Neumann and Peter Tiemann gave detailed insights into the world of servers, computer centres and broadband connections. The IT division within the LB GmbH covers a broad spectrum. "Together with LogAgency, LinogistiX and Lanfer Automation we form a strong alliance in the Logata group", commercial manager Peter Zimmermann explains as an introduction. A strong team 34 employees and six apprentices work for the Lanfer Systemhaus. Dominik Neumann is one of them. The IT clerk trainee feels comfortable within the company and is not the only one who does. "The average period of employment with Lanfer Systemhaus is 8.5 years. Eleven of the current employees have been there for more than ten years", the apprentice says while introducing the company. Apart from the IT clerk, Lanfer Systemhaus also trains IT specialists for system integration and merchants for office management. The key competencies The IT specialists offer their services directly from Schlavenhorst 88a in the industrial park Mussum. The key competencies not only include application support, pure data storage and office communication but also security topics such as data protection and IT security. "We offer everything from simple server rental to the complete managed service. We offer network solutions and - one of our unique selling points - we run our own computer centre", Zimmermann says. Especially in times of data theft and insecure storage locations, it is even more important for the customer to know where the data is "located". Security is essential The computer centre in Gut Baarking fulfils the highest security standards. More than 14 IT technicians - trained and equipped with the necessary certificates - are always on hand for support. "And this is to be taken literally. If problems occur, the colleagues are contactable 24 hours a day and seven days a week," the commercial manager explains. The area is marked off and guarded, the waste heat created by the servers is cooled by stateof-the-art air conditioning - the Lanfer Systemhaus is a comprehensive partner when it comes to IT infrastructure. A topic every businessman is interested in. Zimmermann: "Apart from a modern and well looked after computer centre, safe data transport is also important to avoid security breaches as much as possible". The computer centre of the Lanfer Systemhaus "An interesting point which is not to be sniffed at is the capacity that such a computer centre offers. Currently, we host around 400 customer systems. Since we have had the opportunity to use servers not just like big, bulky cupboards, the capacity has increased immensely," explains Zimmermann. Server hardware can be reduced by virtualising it. This specifically means: Using particular technologies, many applications can be stored on one system. The Lanfer Systemhaus: Partners when it comes to broadband Broadband supply for Bocholt's businesses is a joint project with the business development of the city of Bocholt and Bocholt's energy and water supply. "It is especially important in the economic area to have a fast, reliable and affordable internet connection", explains Peter Tiemann, who supported the project. Broadband offers fast data transfer in both directions - a feature conventional DSL simply couldn't offer. Tiemann continues: "Nothing is possible without the internet. To ensure "a lot" can happen and that data is sent quickly and on a larger scale, an optimal connection to the net is imperative." The customer receives the professional broadband connection via a so-called Point of Presence (POP) directly in their industrial area. The lines are wired radially and are operated through a central provider (e.g. Telekom). "Depending on the version, we can install several of these 'BackBone connections' or a fibre optic line. This is always discussed individually with the customer and adapted to the individual needs", Tiemann says. Available across Germany and the world By no means are the professional broadband connections through Lanfer Systemhaus limited to Bocholt and its surrounding area. Finally Peter Tiemann explains: "If somewhere in Germany at least three business join up, we can also provide a broadband POP there". In addition, the services of the computer centre can also be used worldwide.
