Absolute modular encoder for motor feedback<br />

ASM36 is the m<strong>in</strong>iature absolute modular encoder designed to be directly <strong>in</strong>tegrated<br />

<strong>in</strong>to small AC servo motors and DC brushless motors. It offers high resolutions and<br />

reliable operation at an economical price.<br />

ASM36 is a high resolution s<strong>in</strong>gleturn optical absolute<br />

encoder.<br />

It is eng<strong>in</strong>eered for direct <strong>in</strong>tegration <strong>in</strong>to small AC servo<br />

motors and DC brushless motors.<br />

It can be <strong>in</strong>stalled <strong>in</strong> a variety of drives with different<br />

flange sizes (typically from size 40 to size 80) hav<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

6-mm/0.24” back shaft and a 20-mm/0.79” flange pilot.<br />

Unlike conventional encoders it comes <strong>in</strong> a OEM and<br />

ultra compact modular package comb<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the disk<br />

and the circuit that can be easily assembled by the user.<br />

Thanks to the supplied mount<strong>in</strong>g tool and the automatic<br />

calibration software the assembly process is greatly<br />

simplified, thus reduc<strong>in</strong>g the time needed for <strong>in</strong>stallation<br />

and alignment to few seconds (the measur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

system is supplied pre-calibrated).<br />

The electrical <strong>in</strong>terface can be either SSI or BiSS C-mode<br />

with a resolution up to 21 bits (2097152 cpr).<br />

Zero sett<strong>in</strong>g/preset and count<strong>in</strong>g direction <strong>in</strong>put functions<br />

along with protection aga<strong>in</strong>st reverse polarity<br />

and short-circuit add plus benefits.<br />

Furthermore the use of selected components enables<br />

high accuracy rates and an operat<strong>in</strong>g temperature range<br />

from -40°C to +100°C (-40°F to +212°F).<br />

ASM36 is the ideal solution for mass production at low<br />

cost <strong>in</strong> motors for applications such as:<br />

• robots<br />

• XY tables<br />

• chip mounters<br />

• sew<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es<br />

• food process<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es<br />

• conveyors and other material handl<strong>in</strong>g systems
