Events & Programs Chamber keeps businesses informed, prepared The Camarillo Chamber to partner with the American Red Cross and Schneiders & Associates law firm in January on two very important business seminars The Camarillo Chamber is ringing in the New Year with two important informational workshops for local businesses; Disaster Preparedness for your Business presented by the Red Cross of Ventura County on Friday, January 18, and a 2013 Employment Law Update presented by Schneiders and Associates on Thursday, January 31. Both workshops will be held at the Camarillo Public Library, 4101 Las Posas Road. Be Smart, Be Ready, Be Prepared The Red Cross of Ventura County will present Disaster Preparedness for YOUR Business on Friday, January 18, over breakfast from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. Sponsored by Southern California Gas Company. In this 90 minute workshop, business owners will learn about the critical steps needed to prepare their business and their employees for disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires and floods. Participants will leave this workshop with the information and tools to take action. The following items will be covered: • Engage in an interactive roundtable activity that encourages discussion about community and business preparedness. • Review the primary disaster risks in Ventura County. • Learn about the basic components of a business preparedness plan. • Get acquainted with a Red Cross resource for businesses: Ready Rating (free, online assessment and planning tool). • Get information and tools on how to encourage employees to be prepared at home. Introduce additional Red Cross resources that assist with preparedness. The workshop is free to all and any local business is welcome to attend. New Employment Laws for 2013 Schneiders and Associates LLP will present 2013 Employment Law Update on Thursday, January 31 from 8 – 10 a.m. free of charge for all local businesses.
