Our most exciting mission as we enter our 80th year is working with strategic partners Agromin and Limoneria in a two-pronged effort to reduce waste and create energy by developing a food waste program with local businesses. Food waste is being collected by Harrison Industries and taken to Agromin, where a pilot program is taking place to see how green waste and food waste combined in a covered static pile system turns out. In the future, this product will be placed in a digester to create energy. Albertsons supermarkets in Camarillo, Ventura and Carpinteria were among the first businesses to join the pilot program. In our ongoing public outreach efforts, in conjunction with our client cities, we are expanding our efforts to inform the citizenry about the importance of recycling and how to do it. In addition to recycling newsletters and other materials produced for our residential and commercial customers, we have had a 15-minute video produced which is available to local cable TV channels, schools and community service groups that want to know more about recycling. The recycling video also is on our upgraded website that is also more user-friendly to allow our customers to order special services online. Check it out at www.ejharrison.com.
