SEC ACADEMIC CONSORTIUM
The member institutions of the
South eastern Conference, with a tradition
of excellence in intercollegiate athletics,
joined forces in 2005 to form the
SEC Academic Consortium (SECAC).
The SECAC was relocated to the SEC
Headquarters in the summer of 2011.
“Under the direction of our
Presidents and Chancellors, we are moving
into the second phase of the conference’s
Academic Consortium.” said SEC
and University of Florida President Dr.
Bernie Machen. “The SECAC will now
move forward with a renewed vision for
supporting the academic mission of the
SEC’s 12 universities.”
Created by the league’s Presidents,
Chancellors and Provosts, the SECAC
was established to provide a collaborative
structure in which the 12 universities
can promote learning, scholarship
and academic achievement.
“This organization provides an
opportunity for our schools to work
together to enhance and share academic
resources,” SEC Commissioner Mike
side of the conference.”
academic excellence through the collaboration
of SEC universities. The
Consortium has focused on establishing
Development Program, enhanching
coordinated Study Abroad Programs,
engaging campus admissions offices in
cooperative student recruiting efforts
outside the geographic footprint of the
SEC, and building collaboration among
academic deans and department heads.
