Tramico also offers a range of accessories, including joint filling foams
(Adhecell and Tramicord) and other specific technical foams (Tramiband
and Tramifeu...).
Acoustically, Tramico responds to current demands in noise reduction
by providing a full range of acoustic light weight panels.

■ Insulation :
a commitment to high energy performance
Insulation is one of the most critical features of an energy efficient
building. If a building is ineffectively insulated it will be subject to climate
stresses such as strong wind, wind driven rain, and thermal pressures.
The main results of poor sealing are : air permeability (infiltration of
outside air), susceptibility to harsh weather conditions, wind, thermal
conditions and negative affects on the buildings’ ventilation system.
A building that is ineffectively sealed has many disadvantages :
Excessive energy consumption during the colder seasons.
Deterioration in the quality of indoor air.
Noise pollution from external sources.
Structural damage due to condensation.
Tramico is already a leader in this field. Its’ range of products, mainly

■ Impregnated foams : terminology
Impregnated foam
Open-celled flexible foam (polyurethane foam), impregnated with an
acrylic resin binder. Packaged in strips, with adhesive on one side, if
required. The foam is in either pre-compressed rolls or in uncompressed
form.
Impregnated foams are tested in accordance with NF P85-571 of April
2001 « Impregnated Foams - Tests » and conform to the specifications of
standard NF P 85-570 of April 2001 « Impregnated Foams - definitions,
specifications ».
Utilisation range
The maximum amplitude of movement accepted by the sealant, whilst
remaining effective.
Sealing
Equipping the joint with the appropriate sealant to prevent air & water
penetration between identical or non identical building materials.
The sealing depth is equal to the width of the sealing agent (depth of
product in the joint : P).

■ Application
General
Application does not require any special tools or additional
products. Vitaseal ® ensures air & water tightness.
Measure the width of the joint, and select in accordance with the
utilisation range.
Remove rolls from their packaging at the last moment. Cut the
strapping tape, as well as the first and last cm of Vitaseal ® TRS.
Position the Vitaseal ® TRS slightly inwards from the joint.
Do not join the edges at the base of the joinery.
Raise the Vitaseal ® TRS the on the frameworks’ edges by at least
100 mm, should it not go all the way round the joinery.
The presence of moisture in the joint does not affect Vitaseal ® TRS
adhering properties. Vitaseal ® TRS works by decompression in the
joint, not by friction.
The ends must be joined by lateral superposition (1) or by juxtaposition
of the ends (2).

■ Determining product dimension
Criteria for achieving a completely insulated joint must be clearly
identified :
purpose of the joint,
expected external stresses.
The choice of impregnated foam to use, depends not only on the
minimum and maximum opening of the joint, but also on movements
and dimensional changes of the expansion joint. The amount of
movement expected at the joint must be evaluated by its role to be
played, and the nature of the substrate.
The pre-compressed thickness must be less than the original width of
the joint.
