Chief Justice, U.S. Supreme Court (from 1921), the only ex-president to hold that position. Fine partly<br />

engraved Document Signed “Wm H Taft” as President, 1 page, folio, Washington, May 24, 1911.<br />

Also signed by Acting Secretary of War “Robert Shaw Oliver”. They appoint Robert B. Hewitt a First<br />

Lieutenant of Infantry effective the 11th day of March. With blue War Department seal and secretary’s<br />

docket at upper left. Seal has some missing pieces and damage. Yellow vellum age-toning at top, nibbling<br />

and pieces out at right and upper left, however, does not impede the signature or the vignette illustration<br />

Roosevelt Party during the Primary Election, Ca. 1913. A certification by John F. Crosby, County<br />

Clerk of Hudson County, New Jersey that “Conrad J. Dankoskey” was duly elected as the candidate to<br />

be voted for in the 1913 General Election. 1 page, legal folio, dated September 27, 1913 [original<br />

printed date of October 1911 has been crossed out], red embosed seal at lower right. Yellowing of paper,<br />

minor upper left corner fold, splits at right and left edge, otherwise Fine. An interesting glimpse at the<br />

Primary process at the turn of the 20th century. Est. 75-125<br />
