Signed “Andrew Jackson” as President and “Louis McLane”as Secretary of State, 1 page, folio,
on vellum, [Washington], April 22, 1835, #7 issued in New Bedford, Massachusetts. A scallop-topped
ship’s passport for the “Barque Bramin Enos Pope” master or commander of the burthen of “two hundred
forty five and 44/95” tons...mounted with “no” guns navigated with “eleven” men. State of “Massachusetts”
District of “New Bedford”, countersignature of the customs collector is illegible. With original
and intact government wax Seal of the United States at lower left. Docketing on reverse - March 12,
1836, from the District and Port of New Bedford (Massachusetts). It reads “...[illegible] having taken
the oath required by law — is at present master of the within named vessel [signed] Samuel Williams Collector.”
