#321, signed by L.O’B. Branch as president, train<br />
passes city and river, ornate border, great seal impression<br />
with early train, “Printed at the office of the<br />
‘Southern Weekly Post.’” Minor edge wear, light age<br />
toning, else VF+. Lawrence O’Bryan Branch (1820-<br />
62) was asked by President James Buchanan to serve as<br />
US Secretary of the Treasury in late 1860, but declined;<br />
he became a brigadier general in the Confederate Army,<br />
serving under Stonewall Jackson; after thwarting a<br />
Union advance at the Battle of Antietam, he was killed<br />
by an enemy sharpshooter. His autograph is scarce.<br />

King,” Claus Spreckels (1828-1908) developed sugar<br />
